Alternatives M/C Open House in Delray Beach, FL
I just love the events where I don't have to work. And no, taking pictures and writing these articles are not work to me.
This had to be one of the hottest days of the summer so far, but the attendance was really awesome! Bear spent most of the day in front of the hot grill, and he was sweating so much that when he left, a band of midget bikers was trying to steal him away from Alternatives!
I've been watching Alternatives with much interest over the years, and the brotherhood and love displayed by all of their patch holders is very real. They have always had that going in their favor, along with being there for anyone in need.
Not only did they receive great support from their other chapters in Florida, the recovery community showed up in force to enjoy a great day of recovery. On that note, my sponsor was there and it was the second time in two days I had seen him. As some of you know, because of my shift on my job, I have not been able to participate in my own recovery as much as I would have liked to, so I said to my sponsor 'twice in the same calendar year?'. I then let him know that I will be seeing much more of him as I have taken a day shift position. Time to get centered in recovery...... again!
The family atmosphere at the event also provided a good day for all the children present, there was even a bounce house for them ( I think I spotted Brianne in there!).
There will be many more upcoming events at their new clubhouse, check their website out for more details (its on the Links Page)
Good food, great friends, fellowship, brotherhood, and an AA meeting to boot. If it never gets any better than this, its still a whole lot more than I ever expected when I first joined a sober motorcycle club in Michigan in 1989.
As I've said in the past 'ya don't have to be a biker to have fun in recovery, but it sure helps!'
