5 hours sleep and here I am with probate Mikee at the Dunkin Donuts on 10th Ave. Incredible!
All week long I kept changing my mind, gonna go, not gonna go, ad nauseum! I then realized I wasn't in my right mind anyway, so Thursday night I called Mikee and said I was in.
On Saturday morning I got out of bed and looked at tne weather for the state, and almost cancelled again, but I didn,t. I did leave with my rain suit on and wore it until our first (and only) gas stop. I then took it off.
Yeah, you know what happens next, about 5 miles down the road it started spitting rain, but it actually didn't last. Almost.
About 10 miles out of Daytona it started getting a little more serious, but sitting behind all that plastic on the Goldwing, I hardly knew it was raining. Can't say the same for Mikees Harley.
After leaving Lake Worth at 6:00 AM sharp, and sitting down to breakfast in the Main Street Cafe at 9:10 AM, we considered it a good trip overall.
I planned on just buying a new coat and heading back home, buttttttttttt...........yep, Main Street should be renamed Silicone Valley East.
As you can see from the photos, motorcycles were not the first thing to be photographed. There are a couple of photos missing, but I guess ya can't expect a probate to know how to properly operate a camera.
About 4 PM, Eastside joined us on Main Street and joined in our photo games. We remained on Main Street until about 7, and then went to find a room. We stopped at one of the foreign owned slummers on the west side of A1A, and they wanted $130.00 for the night. I offered the cashier $75.00 for the three of us and she said she couldn't do it. As we were getting back on our bikes, a gentlman approached and said we could have the room for $100 for the night, of course we took it. If your there on the last night of Bikeweek or Biketoberfest, always barter!
After going up to the room and relaxing for about 37 seconds, we headed for the Almous Club, where New Attitudes Daytona were holding a Spaghetti Dinner/Dance. (note to Mongo: we need their sauce recipe, much better than ours.) We hung out and enjoyed the food and fellowship for about an hour or so, but being old, I was exhausted so I went and said my fairtheewells and was off to the motel with the equally exhausted probate Mikee right beside me. According to Eastside, there were about six Pies in the Eye altogether.
We got up the next morning, returned to Main Street so Eastside could buy a lady friend a t-shirt and then we once again had breakfast at the Main Street Cafe.
We left Daytona at about 11:11, arrived back in Lake Worth at about 3:08. Ran into rain on and off all the way home, but that is pretty much normal for Biketoberfest.
We are planning to see if we can get a few more members (or friends of the fellowship) interested in attending the last 3 days of Bikeweek next March. Let one of us know if you want to ride!!
