Labor Day Picnic 2009
This had to be one of the largest attended Third Tradition events in the past 10 years. I don't remember seeing this large of a crowd since one of the Bad Dances way back in the nineteen hundreds (19 and 97?)
Kudos go out to the committee this year for the outstanding job they did. Their were over 500 meals served at this years Labor Day event. That will be a lot of 12 step literature going out into the community.
A special thanks goes out to our loyal friends of the club who just kicked in and helped wherever it was needed, without us even asking! That, my brothers and sisters, is unconditional love . Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.( That includes you too, probates for Alternatives!)
That is another group that had a lot to do with the success of this years event, even bringing in some 'slaw' to help us out. Once again, many, many thanks to Alternatives MC. And hey, you too States, Christian Motorcycle Association, and the Vietnam Vets.
Of course we can't forget all that attended from the half-way houses, treatment centers, and the recovery community itself, without you, it just wouldn't have been a party.
The band, Natural Habit once again rocked the crowd, we even had a couple of clowns table dancing to the great music performed by the band.
We officially opened at 11:00 AM, by 12, the food line was out of the pavillion and out in the parking lot, about 40 deep, and that lasted well over an hour! I was quite impressed.
We do have to remember though, our higher power was definitely in attendance. Part of the proof of that was that once we put up the rain shelter for the band, the rain stopped, and we could not have ordered a more perfect weather day.
As I alway say 'we are not a glum lot..........'*
Enough of my rambling on, it's time for me to shut up (when isn't it!) so you can go take a gander at all of this years photos.
